From Saturday 25th October to Sunday 2nd November, the World Heritage site of Galle Fort will be exhibiting the works of over 50 Artists from Sri Lanka and abroad. Over 30 temporary Galleries will be set up in private houses, verandahs, wharehouses and hotels. A painting competition for schoolchildren will be held on Saturday 25th October and their work will be displayed for the rest of the trail. A craft market will be held over the weekends.
The purpose of this trail is four fold
- To encourage people to look at art
- To encourage young people to experiment with art
- To publicise the works of Sri Lankan Artists
- To encourage people to visit Galle and the Southern Province.
We hope you will come to Galle, stroll around its nostalgic streets, drop into some or all of the Galleries, stand back, linger, ponder and ask the question “What does art mean to me?” perhaps even find time to escape, even if only for a moment, from the frantic activities of our life.
All works of art will be for sale. Please register at No 1 Law Courts Square to collect a free location map
The Galle Film Festival will also be showing Sri Lankan and International films. See www.gallefilmfestival.com |
